Altador Cup Coverage – Day 1: SOTAC goes with Meridell, Faerieland and DC demolished and Scores have not been halved.

Good morning Neopians, the Altador Cup has officially started and what a day it has been. The results of the first days are incredibly wild with crowd favourites Faerieland and Darigan Citadel getting demolished by some unexpected teams and JellyNeo making a mistake about this year’s Altador Cup.
To start of day 1’s coverage SOTAC has decided to join team Meridell, this was reported multiple times by confirmed SOTAC players in the r/neopets discord server. Whether they’ll be able to take the cup with them is another question as having your team be announced as SOTAC-backed usually means a lot of inexperienced players will join that team. Yesterday they swooped Shenkuu off the floor with massive wins in every game.
In other news, Darigan Citadel got demolished by team Virtupets yesterday, which frankly wasn’t the weirdest news. Traditionally Darigan Citadel is insanely popular and manages to get in the top 5 most of the time but Virtupets has been picking up in popularity recently.
More surprising was how the second crowd favourite, Faerieland got demolished by Tyrannia, which normally isn’t popular at all.
Pretty much all matches ended up with 1 team winning every game apart from Terror Mountain and Krawk Island. Terror Mountain won everything but Make Some Noise and Krawk Island won everything but Slushie Slinger.
It will be interesting to see how Faerieland and Darigan Citadel will recover from their losses, personally I am with Krawk Island and currently on rank 2.
