Neopets gets its very first canonically lesbian or bisexual character with Shenkuu team player reported to miss her girlfriend

A couple of weeks ago TNT asked players what they wanted for Pride this year and one of the things people wanted was a canonically lgbt character. Well, we finally got our wishes made true! While no one knows for certain whether Mirsha Grelinek is a lesbian or a bisexual, the fact that after 24 years we finally have an lgbt character is wonderful. Admittedly they are a little late to the party, I mean c’mon its 2022 folks but it’s a nice gesture.

This isn’t the first time Neopets added queer characters however, various players from teams have had gender changes and could canonically be seen as trans, it’s just that TNT hasn’t been as vocal about it. The first canonically trans character was Antola Maeir, also playing for Team Shenkuu, who drank a swirling potion to change their gender from female to male.
Regardless, it’s a great stride forward that Neopets is embracing its largely queer population in comparison to its past behavior where accounts would be frozen for mentioning gay because it was too political.
The Neoboards and the Subreddit were massively celebrating this news, although some more conservative Neopets users tried coping on the neoboards, luckily TNT froze their accounts.
