Altador Cup Coverage – Day 17 & 18: KI becomes first team to beat MD, VP beats mighty BV

Good Afternoon Neopians, The past 2 days of the Altador Cup have been incredible with feats produced by teams that were never dreamt of before. Normally we produce a cup coverage every playday but things got in the way.
Starting off with the headline news: Krawk Island somehow managed to defeat mighty Meridell and became the first team to do so this entire cup. That’s right, the Krawks managed to beat the All-star players of SOTAC which has been celebrated as a huge win by many not just the Krawks. More and more SOTAC is seen as an annoyance by many, upsetting the game by picking a random team.
It is likely that Krawk Islands win was due to a combination of Kreludor exhausting Meridell and Krawk Island focusing incredibly hard on 2 of the 4 games getting an unbelievable 12 points in Make Some Noise.
On top of that Virtupets managed to beat runner-up team Brightvale, securing their spot in the top tier bracket. As for the Number 6 spot in the top tier, it is unknown who will get the spot. It is now a standoff between Kreludor, Daragan Citadel and Mystery Island. Darigan Citadel has been reported as the cheaters team this year so it will be interesting how fast TNT will react and fix Darigan’s standings.
Furthermore Shenkuu took out Maraqua which is an impressive feat for the uprising middle-tier bracket team. It sadly won’t be enough to get into the finals but it is interesting to see the team rise from a troubling start.
As for yesterday, the only noteworthy match was Krawk Island against Maraqua, which was expected to result in a loss for the Krawks but ended up in a win for them instead. Which only makes their win against Meridell more impressive.
